Creating a Culture of Reading - $4,128

This project provides fourth grade students and teachers with access to the Accelerated Reader program and STAR testing. As a district, White Salmon is committed to teaching reading with a focus on Science of Reading strategies. This grant opportunity helps 4th graders focus on reading comprehension, which is the next critical step our district needs to address. Prior to this project, the school did not have an effective tool to support and monitor reading comprehension. Accelerated Reader provides manageable, actionable, and meaningful feedback on reading comprehension. The frequency of feedback it delivers helps teachers respond quickly to improve student reading growth.
