This grant sends three teams of five teachers consisting of staff members from each of the four schools to a foundational workshop for Project Based Learning. The 2-day summer intensive workshop is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to design, assess and manage rigorous, relevant, standards-based project-based learning units. The workshop uses a balance of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing and peer collaboration and review. Participants are actively engaged in project design, with the expectation that every teacher or teaching team will develop or adapt a project plan that is ready to implement in the fall of 2018. The fall extension is a 1-day workshop that will allow teaching teams to receive formative feedback on project implementation and further their experience with assessment and management. During project implementation, each team that attends will receive 8 additional hours of embedded coaching by ESD112 staff that can be allocated to best meet the team’s needs.
