Basketball Hoop Height Adjusters – $1000

Curricular Area: Health and Physical Education
Grant Focus: Equipment
Schools: Wally & Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate
Items Purchased: Basketball Hoop Height Adjusters

Together with funds from the School District and the WSCY basketball program, this grant allows for the purchase and installation of height adjusters on the backboards at the small gym at Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School. These hoops are used by children ages 8 to 12 but are fixed at adult regulation height. This is too high for 3rd and 4th graders, ages 8-10, who typically do not have the strength and skill to reach the backboards. This is discouraging and deflating for children as they learn this new sport, and this project aims to rectify that.
